Big,fat, juicy British pork bangers with onion gravy over some buttery garlic mash washed down with some rough Somerset cider.
I can feel Autumn in the air.
If it wasn't for Covid-19 I'd be planning a Caribbean jolly for November.
Red Stripe and ganja and listening to reggae as the sun goes down.
Damn and blast this virus.

I'm inspired by Fall to shift gears. This talk of Oktoberfest and no where to go. We have an old German brewery in the forest not so far away that does all the German holidays complete with special brews but all that is on hold right now.

Yesterday I made this German plum cake (torte?) and it's the best recipe I've found so far. There is a generous amount of cardamom in it which is what I was looking for. It's baked with an almond streusel on top and then served with a toffee sauce and whipped cream. Oh my!

The plums were gorgeous, tart/sweet and matched the stand of sumac in our back yard so I thought I'd share a little of the color we're seeing right now.

I always enjoy when people take time to post pictures.

The recipe is a David Lebovitz one if anyone would like it. (It calls for buttermilk. Heh.) Again I just "spoiled" my milk with a good balsamic. It gives the batter a rich color and flavor, I think.

DH just showed up with a half dozen ears of corn. Didn't expect more of that.

Guess I'll make esquites and black bean tostadas for supper. That'll go good and multi-culti with our German cake. "¿No lo crees, Adelheide?" "Ja, ich werde es essen, Juanita."

This afternoon I'm making another half recipe of cake in cupcakes to share with the usual suspects. We've decided we don't want to share any of our original.

I'm expecting surprises of gourds, pumpkin and squash and the cake won't hurt to give a reminder. LOL

Lodestar would you be able to post this delicious looking plum cake recipe?

We had burgers from a a local place that has a fried egg on top, bacon, creamy cheese sauce on a brioche bun and we shared a bacon brisket empanada that had pepper bacon jam.
