I wondered if anyone was freshening up some of their kitchen gear? Or tossing old stuff? I’ve decided to donate my iron grill pan. Every time I used it, I worried about dropping it—on my toe, on my porcelain sink or my stove. And it was a pain to maintain. It is gone from my kitchen.
I also got rid of some old baking sheets and replaced with three new ones from Chicago Metallic. I am not happy about the care instructions for them, but I guess we’ll see how they perform.
I need new 8×8 baking pan and 1/4 sheet pan. The restaurant supply store I use keeps irregular hours so it's hard to catch them when they're open.
What about using parchment paper with your new baking pans? Keeps them cleaner so you don't have as much trouble with special care.
Actually I have purchased some silpat sheets that I will probably use. I have used parchment paper, though, and I like doing so. For roasting veggies, I Pam the pans and then line them with foil, and Pam the foil lining. This does make cleanup easier.
I swiped a couple of well worn baking sheets from my wife's tools to make a little surprise trap for the squirrel that keeps raiding the bird feeder. Now she has some brand new heavy duty nice pans and such from King Arthur.
Replaced all silicon ladles, spoons, turners which went to "a good home". Next time SO is close to the supply store he will get me some half sheet pans.
I am in the process of re-lining all my drawers and cupboards. As I do one, I toss something. All the usable items go to one of our local charities. Mostly due to our age and the possibility we will be choosing living in a senior apartment set up or down sizing soon, I am not replacing everything. I have so much that I just knew I needed and couldn't live without that I never use. Guess I will learn to live without them.
How do so many of you get into the restaurant supply stores?
