I do a similar recipe for home-made mac & cheese. I usually don't have milk in stock so my mac & cheese is just that. The favor beats any boxed preparations or prepared versions.

I've become a real fan of roasted walnut oil. I pour enough on the pasta to just make it glisten, then add cheese. I use Parmigiano Reggiano from my local goody store.

Here's another dish that I'm still refining. I melt butter in a skillet, then add several eggs and let them sit a moment as if I'm frying them. As they begin to set I break them up, add a small amount of milk or heavy cream and a tbsp of dry vermouth. I let it cook a few minutes to evaporate the alcohol, the pour it over the pasta addding Parmiggiano Reggiano, black pepper, and a bit of truffle salt.

Default Is anyone else exhausted?

I have been cooking all day, and I think all the hard stuff is done, but I think I'm getting too old for hosting the family. It'll probably be like childbirth though, by next year I will have forgotten.
Happy Holidays, Foodie Friends.

I did not want to see another roast for at least two days. Close friends will be over tonight. No crisis mode whatsoever. At least until 18:00 ))
Furries are well fed and tired, SO was a great help, hot tub, shower, hair/face paint, comfy clothes, everyone can walk (or not) home.
A few minutes for us then a few family phone calls and putting the buffet together.

CD folks - life is too short not to eat very well or share the oops with others for a good laugh!!!!

Yep I'm exhausted! Two full days of shopping and baking and prepping and cleaning for 18 guests coming over tomorrow! So it's Mass tonight, sleep, open presents in the am with my own kids, then prepare for the guests. Will enjoy a bottle of wine tomorrow night after it's all over! (Well, realistically, it'll probably be 1/2 a glass before I fall asleep!)
