Sorry, Eureka. I didn't put that in. Yup, they stopped carrying barley. Used to be a staple by the rice, grains, and dried beans.

You can get anything you want online. Bob's Red Mill (probably the brand the grocery store carries) sells all its grains online. You can get all the barley you want without even having to leave home. It is likely you can find any other brand of barley you want online from Amazon or Walmart or any number of other sellers.

Check the other grocers, maybe that particular store sold out, & is waiting to get more in.

Try avocado toast with dukkah. BTW, I'm getting older too! We can still buy barley, but I've noticed the store is carrying less things. Guess they are streamlining for better profit margins.

My supermarket splits up the grains. Some are in the cereal aisle and others, including a large Bob's Red Mill display, are in the baking aisle. Who knows? Barley may be on the soup aisle. You need to ask the manager of your store. They'll order anything you need.

My closest Kroger sells Quaker Quick Barley. It's in the aisle with the pasta. Use their app and it'll tell you exactly what aisle of what store.

However, that being said... we'd had a hard time finding barley in our town for years. We use it to make a beef and barley soup that is really good. Both Wal-Mart and HEB carry it as a product - but it is often sold out.

How do you make avocado toast if you aren't at home with your toaster? It's called convenience packaging, and it's nothing new.
