I asked a customer service about it. She apologized. But no, I didn't complain. I understand the store would carry it if it sold. I'm just happy they carry most of the items I want and that I can get the odder, less popular items at other nearby stores or from Amazon. Some stores have cards where you can request that they get an item in, but then they'd discontinue it if it didn't sell...and they carried barley for years and made the decision not to any more, so I just have to accept that it's an item that doesn't sell, at least at that store. I can't explain why a nearby Publix had it and Kroger (which is a much larger store) didn't. Perhaps Publix customers are older and more apt to still be cooking from scratch.

I'm planning a pot roast this week. I think I will get some pearl barley and cook that in the roast instead of potatoes. I love the barley beef combination.

With a few carrots, some onions, and a rutabaga, if I can find one. Rutabaga can be difficult to find.

I haven't seen a rutabaga in these parts lately. Not that I want them, but I haven't seen turnips, either.

My kid has eaten rutabaga, turnip, and parsnip, but there is no way in h-e-double toothpicks that he would ever consider buying or eating them on his own.

They make a great raw winter salad.

Default OMG, dumb cook

We recorded Live Rescue and are watching it now. Firefighters were called to an apartment in Florida. Seems they wanted to cook a frozen pizza but didn’t take it out the box first.

To be fair, there have been occasions when I've been tired or distracted and not noticed that I'd slid the cardboard onto the tray along with the pizza.
