When we lived in Rhode Island people would put a cooler and honor jar at the end of the driveway with fresh eggs, amazing taste, so much better than the store. Enjoy!

We have around 60 chicken, no, 80 now with the freshly hatched flock, 6 guineas and I am not sure how many quail, they are DW's project.
yep, eggs are good. What's sort of funny is that you praise something you haven't tried... but yes, store eggs are pale...

I adore farm fresh eggs, but $7 a dozen is a high price. I have paid between $2 & $4, but that was about 2 years ago, so I do not know the current price.

I have seen about $5 a dozen at the farmer's markets in wealthy areas of the mid-Hudson valley.

$7 seems like highway robbery, but if they only have 6 chickens, that is a supply issue. Most chickens lay one egg a day, maximum.

That's the organic eggs price at the Farmers Market here in the Bay Area. $9 for pastured eggs.

Yes, $7 a dozen is a bit high. Yesterday, on my way to Houston (took a scenic drive), I passed by several farmers selling eggs at the street, they were $4.50 to $5 a dozen. BUT - the blue eggs are special. They are blue inside and out. The Araucana, in particular, is a very popular exotic chicken breed. They don't taste any different, but they surely are very pretty.
Perhaps that's the reason the eggs are a bit more expensive.

In my area at the farmer's markets, farm/pastured chicken eggs are typically $6/dozen, $7 for jumbos. And I understand the Araucana chickens are kind of mean and it's harder to get their eggs, so I'm on board with a combat pay for those!

They were $7.00 a dozen some were brown and some were light blue and they were jumbo. This family has 6 chickens. They said the yolk is dark yellow almost orange. They also told me once I try these I'll never go back to store bought eggs again. I can't wait to try them tomorrow for breakfast.
You should see a huge difference in the flavor of farm fresh eggs. It is one of the few things we splurge on every 2 weeks, but I can't imagine going to back to store purchased eggs. I will say, at $7 a dozen I would have to learn to eat store eggs again. I have never heard of them being quite that much. As for the color of the yolk, I have been told: it depends on what the chickens are fed.

Certainly my thought as well. We used to pay about $2.00, now they are $3.50 and I think that is pushing it
