I see Asian supermarkets selling monkey fish,it looks ugly and the small ones hardly have any meat on them.
Then I realise this could be monk fish which is known as poorman lobster,as its meat tastes like lobster meat.
Have anyone tried monk fish?and does the meat really taste like lobster?

I've had monk fish and it's good. I would never mistake it for lobster but I can see how it's compared to lobster.

I don't know about monkeyfish, never heard of that. Maybe someone at the Asian market can clarify if that is monk fish.

Yes. It's meaty, tasty and really good!! And it's called monkfish.

Just make sure the membrane is removed. It's kinda purplish and best to have it removed by the fishmonger.

You can cook it, pan fry, bake or put on a grill. The taste is mild and pleasant. Make sure you don't overcook it.

I don't think I would confuse monkfish with lobster, but it is excellent. The flesh is firm, white, and doesn't have any fish taste to it.

The actual fish is a scary looking guy. Its one of those "I wonder why the first one to eat that thought it would be a good idea"

Monk fish and monkey fish are completely different fish and they come from different areas of the ocean.

I think what they sell in Asian supermarkets are Monk fish, not monkey fish.
Once I saw Northern Pike, which is a fresh water fish.
They also sell salmon fish head,as people will make fish casserole with it.
