Well, Scranton just recently welcomed two new Manhattan business chains to its rebounding NYC-influenced economic scene---Cold Stone Creamery and the Original SoupMan, which is a Seinfeld parody. Having patronized a Cold Stone Creamery before while in NYC, I know what to expect there in the way of some great ice cream and engaged employees. However, I was wondering if anyone out there has ever tried the soup at "SoupMan?" I read an article in the paper recently about this new downtown business, which had very lengthy lines out the doors and down Adams Avenue for the lunch hour, but I was wondering if these soups are truly worth the price? I'm considering heading up there at some point during the week for a quick lunch with some friends from the University of Scranton. Thanks!

When you mentioned the Seinfeld parody, it reminded me of how addicted we were to Seinfeld.. I haven't heard of the "Original SoupMan" but when I was thinking of opening up a restaurant that served only soup and calling it the "Soup Kitchen", my friends laughed and said that name would be misconstrued and I would never make any money..LOL..Hope somebody will have that info for you, although a long line makes it sound awfully good!

I also have not tried Original SoupMan. I don't like Cold Stone Creamery, I think their ice cream is disgusting (and I LOVE ice cream) although some of their ice cream cakes are okay.

You guys just got a Cold Stone now? Wow, youre a few years behind! Now theyre gonna start poppin up all over the place, just watch, its pathetic. We went from 2-3 to about 2 dozen in about a year, and theyre still poppin up. NO MORE!!!!!!

Mmmmm... I love Coldstone Creamery! The cake-batter ice cream is to die for, in my opinion. Never heard of the Soupman, but I'd definitely check it out if I were you! We used to have a place called Stone Soup, and it was really good - unfortunately they went out of business many years ago.

I've never heard of the Soup Man.

Cold Stone Creamery's opened all over the place here in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area over the past 2 years. It's okay, but WAY too expensive. You can get a whole gallon of ice cream at the supermarket for what they charge for one dish at Cold Stone.

Also, I have a feeling that a lot of Cold Stone stores won't be in business long around here. Nobody wants ice cream when it's cold outside, which it is for almost 6 months out of the year here. The Cold Stone near where I work is absolutely dead from October to April.
