(CNN)If you've stepped foot in a grocery store lately, you know things around your local shop look a little different as retailers take steps to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

This includes the loss of the community salad bar.

It's among the many changes that grocery store chains are making to keep people safe, including taking workers' temperatures and limiting the number of customers.

Probably not a bad idea but I think our local Fresh Market still had their salad bar when I was there a couple of weeks ago. I know most of our stores still do have their deli section fully stocked with prepared salads, fried chicken, etc.

I went to Whole Foods the other day and the hot bar had preprepared plates of the typical hot bar fare combined into meals. Sprouts just had packaged salads there.
