The box contained two or three soup mix packets similar to their chicken noodle soups. Although they didn’t resemble from-scratch wonton soup, I liked them for a snack. My husband doesn’t remember ever seeing these. I think it was in the early 90s. The wonton pasta was extremely thin and delicate, as it should be.
Campbell’s Soup also offered a wonton soup that was totally different from the canned chicken wonton soup they now sell. I like the old version much better; the new one is almost like a thin version of chicken and dumplings. I like this, too, but it doesn’t even come close to being wonton soup. The old one at least bore some resemblance. IIRC the soup was more of a pork base than chicken, too.
Sesame oil, sesame seeds, fresh scallions, fresh ginger, and soy sauce pep up any halfway decent commercial canned or dried soup. They taste great with ramen, too—withOUT the powder in the included “seasoning packet.”
Heck, dress up plain rice with them. Delicious.
Where did you buy the dried wonton soups? Maybe I can order them for shipment here.
Though they are not wonton, the frozen dumplings from Trader Joe's are delicious.
If you mean the TJ Soup Dumplings, I enthusiastically agree! We tried some when visiting southern CA last fall, and I was blown away by how good they were. Even though we had had them fresh from Din Tai Fung (WOW), the TJ stuff still fared well by comparison.
We are faaaaar away from any city big enough to have TJ. Otherwise, I’d be buying those every week.
Their frozen pelminis, however, were bland (tasted mostly like mushrooms) and sort of pasty.
For the record, I once made homemade pork wontons. They were good but an awful lot of work, and at that time I had access to an old-fashioned meat market where they would grind fresh lean pork as fine as desired.

WRONG. I just found the pack in my freezer, they are TJ mini chicken & cilantro won tons. I took a photo, if I can figure out how to post it.
