I forgot to post that I finally got around to making Navaho fry bread tacos the other night. Had Bachelor Son over for a meal and a movie.

This afternoon Chef Daughter dropped in on her catering rounds with a box full of goodies. Two servings each of wonton soup, beet borscht, Caribbean chicken, cornbread and beans with coconut rice, creamy pasta and sausage. Can't decide what to eat first.

I asked her what the mysterious flavor in her asparagus wild rice soup from last week. She said it was lovage. Said she planted some real old-timey herbs last year to experiment.

She had a story of her first adventure with cooking coyote. It probably belongs in the survival forum but I thought you may find it interesting.

An acquaintance of her boyfriend thins them out from time to time and sells the hides. He'd been looking for someone to teach him how to prepare the meat. She volunteered and he dropped the whole skinned carcass off this week.

She butchered it into haunches, back meat and ribs and made stroganoff, roasts and barbequed ribs. Said it was tender and tasted like lean roast beef. Didn't bring us a sample.

Then she spoke the unspeakable - that she was boiling down the skull for a souvenir.

Said her friends said, "disgusting" and called her a "redneck." Heh

Interesting, I didn't know you could (or would want to) eat coyote! One crossed our path this morning while walking the dog.

Squirrel makes a tasty stew you can sell as rabbit.

Lodestar I am envious. We have not lived in areas where lovage had a change to grow for a long time. One of it's commen names is Maggikraut, Maggi weed. It has that distinct flavor.

It shall be nice leftovers. Home made rice a roni, grilled spicy pork chops, big bowl of mixed rabbit food.

A very greasy dinner consisting of 6-eggs and about 3-ounces of unsalted-butter.

We have a LOT of ground squirrels, cotton tails, and hares, and coyotes....

While I have the opportunity to expand my palate..... I lack the desire to do so.

One of the best things I've found in Costco. They make great fish subs when cooked crispy.
