We are back to much cooler temperature and my fireplace is on.It is raining outside,a perfect day to bake and cook.At the moment a Bauernbrot/farmer bread (caraway, fennel, coriander seeds) is rising while I just put in the oven a chococlate chip,Bacardi gold rum, almond flavor Bundt cake.It will be sprinkled with icing sugar. On the stove milk is boiling for homemade yogurt, homemade ghee is cooling down and a root vegetable soup is simmering for tonight.

Therefore tonight root vegetable soup with homemade naan and for dessert a banana/apple casserole with a glass of Darjeeling tea.

My apple and banana casserole....
100 gram soft butter well mixed
3 to 4 small buns ripped in small pieces and soaked in milk and after they are soft squeeze just a bit the extra milk out
4 to 5 beaten eggs
6 to 7 peeled and diced Cortland or Macintosh apples OR 6 apples and 1 sliced banana
125 gram sugar
pinch of cinnamon
juice and rind of 1 lime or lemon ( more aromatic with a lime)

Hand mix everything well and put in a buttered casserole dish and bake for roughly an hour in 350 F oven.

Have a good weekend everyone!

I'm focused on a long list of yard chores... so leftovers.

I can’t rep you, Alm, but I wish C-D had smell-o-vision, because I bet your house smells really good. Yum!

I just picked up Chinese for us. Cashew Chicken for DH, and Roast Pork Mei Fun for me. The last of the blueberry pie.

My weekend goal is to hardly cook at all.

Chicken breast & Russet potatoes in the Instant Pot & lettuce with lemon-oil.

I've got to Google to find out how to most easily pit 4-5 dozen cherries (don't have any fancy-schmancy kitchen tools, so it will need to be done with a knife, I guess)... they're so sour, I'll need to make banana-peach smoothies for a few days. Too early in the season for pricey cherries, I'm afraid.

Have a good weekend, All. Heatwave coming, so stay cool.

I had a craving. Tomorrow night I'm making orange chicken. I may have some fried rice in the freezer.

I have a craving, too... but, if I follow through with it, tomorrow I'll be eating 6 Snicker bars.
