Yesterday was bookclub and I hosted, the book was The Cooking Gene by Michael Twitty, and the luncheon was based on his writings, so sorghum-brined roasted chicken thighs, collard greens and jollof rice, with sweet biscuit style strawberry shortcakes and some homemade lemon thyme ice cream for dessert. Iced tea, ginger beer and a dark cherry balsamic switchel to drink (switchel is basically lemonade but made with vinegar, and was the thing to sip on before Big Lemon came on the scene).

Tonight will be a great big salad of some sort.

Last night I was too stuffed to post. We had clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, pan sautéed grouper topped with the remaining crawfish etouffee with a little heavy cream added and spinach. I haven’t seen a scale on this trip and I’m kind of afraid to get on mine when I get home.

I can't rep you yet Moonlady but oh my goodness!! That's a lot of heavenly food there! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Yesterday was my 17th wedding anniversary. Our city (Worcester,MA) just opened a triple a ballpark. It of course is a Red Sox affiliate. We took in a game and then walked over to a restaurant. I ordered the catfish po'boy.

Last night was traditional tacos and black beans on the side. Which will morph into nachos tonight with the addition of a pack of madras lentils.

What a dreary day here. Cold, rainy, foggy, stormy. We will be having chili and a salad.
