There is a local sub shop that a guy from Jersey started with his wife when he moved down a couple years ago. The subs are enormous - easily two meals.

Jersey Mike's is probably the best of the chains. I like Firehouse. Jimmy John's and Subway are emergency subs.

What deli, chain, supermarket do you go to? What is your go-to sandwich?

Here in NYC, we have bodegas/cornershops everywhere, but they are hit and miss. Some take great care with their sandwich counter, and some do not.

In Jersey, there are decent delis, and used to be lots of Blimpies, but they are gone. In the Burbs and city though, the supermarkets all make great sandwiches.

My only peeve is all of small mom and pop places only sell Boars Head. I want to see choices. I never get the cold cuts, and only chicken cutlet, burger, and or lox bagels at delis, bodegas, and supermarkets. If I want an italian sub, or a roast beef american, I go to a sandwich chain. For Corned Beef, I have to go to restaurant, and usually more expensive. I just hope they using proprietary brands.
Subway. If I happen to be in New Orleans, it will always be Central Grocery for a Muffuletta

We have chains that make decent subs such as Jersey Mike's and Firehouse (I LOVE their Datil Pepper Sauce). We also have the Publix Deli which makes pretty good subs. We don't really have any great sandwich places around here though that I know of.

I did have two amazing sandwiches last week in my travels. The first was at Blues City Deli in St. Louis, and the second was an Italian Beef at Johnnie's Beef in suburban Chicago.

Where I am in Massachusetts I haven't found many good delis (I'm sure I just haven't found them nearby) but a couple of pizza places do a pretty good turney sub. Everything fresh sliced, fresh made bread, good tomatoes (the tomoatoes need to be good!). My biggest problem with sandwiches bought out these days is they are just too big - I sometimes need to pull meat out just to be able to get a proper bite.
Are you near any Market Basket stores? Or Wegmans? Also, I know a couple of great roast beef sandwich places, one in Salisbury, another near Lexington. (Of course I've no idea where you are in Mass.)

In Texas, we have two outstanding sandwich chains: Jason's Deli and Schlotzky's. Jason's muffaletta and Schlotzky's Deluxe Original sandwiches are truly amazing. They've totally ruined me for any other deli sandwich providers.

We usually go to Boudin SF, a California chain, that became noted for it’s sourdough bread. I like their Italian Classic and Turkey with Avocado sub sandwiches.

Jersey Mike's for me. I switch it up as far as which subs I get... but my favorite is the Roast Beef.

I also forget the Earl of Sandwich Chain. If first discovered when I stop at the highway rest area in Maryland on I-95. I forget the name.

An actual Earl of Sandwich from England had a hand in the creation of this chain.
