If you want a decent sandwich, where do you go, if not making yourself?

What deli, chain, supermarket do you go to? What is your go-to sandwich?

Here in NYC, we have bodegas/cornershops everywhere, but they are hit and miss. Some take great care with their sandwich counter, and some do not.

In Jersey, there are decent delis, and used to be lots of Blimpies, but they are gone. In the Burbs and city though, the supermarkets all make great sandwiches.

My only peeve is all of small mom and pop places only sell Boars Head. I want to see choices. I never get the cold cuts, and only chicken cutlet, burger, and or lox bagels at delis, bodegas, and supermarkets. If I want an italian sub, or a roast beef american, I go to a sandwich chain. For Corned Beef, I have to go to restaurant, and usually more expensive. I just hope they using proprietary brands.

I don’t know of any great sandwich places here. I get some chain sandwiches now and then, but i wouldn’t call them great, such as what I’ve gotten in an old mom and pop deli. Arby’s BLT is good. Jimmy Johns has a good roll. Firehouse has a good tuna sub.

I've had good subs at Firehouse. Otherwise, I tend to go to local delis for good sandwiches. If there's a place with horseradish mayo, I can usually get a good sandwich there.

Originally from the NYC area. I avoid Fast Food as much as possible because it's bad. So here in NE Ohio, we go here -

Menu - A local mom and pop shop.

Are there any Firehouse locations in Queens, or do you literally mean the FDNY firehouse, because I hear they make good food there? Which local deli you like, just give me intersection? I may be near by.

Local sandwich places or delis.

For example: https://www.lioniheroes.com/

It is not so local to me anymore so I have not been there in a few years but places like that=what I look for with sandwiches.

There was a Firehouse in the Queens Center mall, but it's closed now. I don't have any local delis I especially like now, but there at least used to be one in Forest Hills I like. Can't remember the name.
