Those little packets of sweetened instant oatmeal don't even need hot water to be edible. Cold water and 10-20 seconds for them to absorb the water. They'll be a little more al dente than if made with hot water, but fully edible.

I prefer Quaker Old Fashioned Oatmeal. It only takes 5 minutes for it to cook in boiling water on the stove top.

The 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup works well for that. It's too tall for anything to boil over.
