Maybe it's just where I shop, but I've been noticing that "Zero Sugar" has become far more common than "Diet". I think for some, it's mostly a branding issue, especially for sodas that really only had regular and diet. That's just a guess on my part, though.
I don't think so. I think the Zero sugar label has erythritol (main ingredient in Splenda) and the Diet label has aspartame the main ingredient in Sweet 'n' Low, which is why many calorie free soda drinkers complain about drinks labeled Diet tasting more artificial.
I've had some zero sugar and can't recall what it tasted like. Lately I bought diet faygo cola and it tasted flat. Strange since it did have some fizz to it.
For those that drink non-sugar sodas (this is not a health topic or debate by the way), do you like diet or zero sugar versions of your soda?
I noticed in the past year or two that various diet soda brands have been coming out with "zero-sugar" versions. And for me, every single zero-sugar soda tastes far better than the diet version. It has a slightly sweeter taste and not too much of the aftertaste of diet.
I recently tried Zero Sugar Mountain Dew, AW Root Beer, Coke Zero, and Dr. Pepper.
The Zero taste better than the diet, IMO. I drink Coke Zero (taste like the real thing) and I've tried Zero Dr. Pepper (rare and hard to find). They both taste like their real counterparts. The diet versions have the horrible after-taste.
I prefer Diet over Zero. I like the harshness of Diet soda and although Zero tastes more like regular soda, after all these years of drinking diet soda, I don't like the sweet smoothness of regular soda. But then I like the harshness of whiskey neat.
the zero sugars all taste better, in some cases lots better (coke zero, pepsi zero)
