I don't think carp is awful, but it is quite bony which makes it less fun to eat. Also, the flavor is affected by the water it has been swimming in. If the water is clean and nice, the fish is nice tasting. If the water is foul, muddy, and full of algae, the fish tastes muddy.
I bought a live (swimming) cat fish,it weighs 4 lbs,and the butcher cut it up in thick chunks,is that the same as Carp??
It is meaty but not particularly tasty, consider it is fresh?
It is not like the farm raised catfish filet I bought from Kroger, these are tender and tasty, and cheaper too
