My kids love those flavored popping bobas. They always put them on their frozen yogurt and skip over the candy bar pieces and gummies. My 14 yo once ordered a big container of strawberry flavored ones and sat there at the table eating them with a spoon . Needless to say, that container got pitched soon thereafter.

I’ve tried it a few times and it is too sweet for my tastes. When I go out for non-alcoholic beverages, it is usually for a coffee, an espresso, or a latte.

Boba in coffees or lattes is quite common.

This has been popular (authentic and variations) in the NYC area for about 15 years when Asian style ice cream from Hong Kong became popular. I used to like it for the novelty, but now I don't know anyone who buys it any more. $5 is cheap for tea, especially when you compare that to Hojicha lattes or Chai lattes.

I think it started in SF before it migrated to NYC.

The place I go to around the corner lets you choose your level of sweetness. I get mine unsweetened.

My kid drank it in college but that was awhile ago. I know it was in SoCal for years. Maybe it's an acquired taste.

Yep. Every place I've been to allows you to choose your sweetness level.

Been around the Twin Cities for many years, too.

Bubble Tea is very popular in the Hipster portions of the metro area I live in these days, but not my thing.

Gross. If it was pop rocks then maybe...

The only tea Ive ordered out is Turkish tea. I'm more of a coffee drinker.
