My kids love those flavored popping bobas. They always put them on their frozen yogurt and skip over the candy bar pieces and gummies. My 14 yo once ordered a big container of strawberry flavored ones and sat there at the table eating them with a spoon . Needless to say, that container got pitched soon thereafter.
I’ve tried it a few times and it is too sweet for my tastes. When I go out for non-alcoholic beverages, it is usually for a coffee, an espresso, or a latte.

This has been popular (authentic and variations) in the NYC area for about 15 years when Asian style ice cream from Hong Kong became popular. I used to like it for the novelty, but now I don't know anyone who buys it any more. $5 is cheap for tea, especially when you compare that to Hojicha lattes or Chai lattes.
I think it started in SF before it migrated to NYC.

Gross. If it was pop rocks then maybe...
The only tea Ive ordered out is Turkish tea. I'm more of a coffee drinker.
