Thanks guys - appreciate the feedback, at least I know I'm not completely nuts for being a bit PO'ed! Lol.

I was surprised that he did that, only because he is normally quite good with manners - always holds open doors, polite to everyone (including me), etc. Sometimes we all do something inpolite without realizing. What surprised me was that he didn't understand why I was irritated.

To be fair MIL had no idea we were having dinner and she would have been fine if he'd asked to call back. MIL is actually very nice and we get on well. This was Dh's fault not hers.

Honestly I think he just had a bad moment which is unusual for him luckily! Me reading your responses to him helped him recognize that I am not alone in my thinking and he has apologized and said next time he'll call her back.

He did say how much he enjoyed the meal and how much he appreciated me making it.

I think he really got it - thanks in part to you guys! I really appreciate it!
