I don't intend this to be a poll but more of a discussion. Since the 1990s, red velvet cake has been considered a Christmas dessert. However, since the 2010s, many associate it with Valentine's Day. So, I was wondering, do you think red velvet cake should be for Christmas or Valentine's Day?
I personally prefer red velvet for Christmas and strawberry cake for Valentine's, but that is just me. I just think of Christmas as a "red" holiday and Valentine's Day as a "pink" holiday. Both cakes pair well with cream cheese frosting, although for Christmas sometimes I dye the frosting green.
"Should"? LOL. It's whatever someone wants. It's RED. Both holidays have RED decor.
Red Velvet cake as a Christmas dessert is news to me. It is not something I want to eat.
I like gingerbread for the holidays.
But as a Valentine's Day dessert wasn't a thing until the 2010s. As a Christmas dessert dates back until at least the 1990s. Strawberry cake is the traditional Valentine's Day cake and this is historical fact.

Please post a legitimate source for this "historical fact." A fact is not an opinion.

Says Red Velvet Cake has been around for decades, but became popular after it appeared in the 1989 movie, Steel Magnolias.
Article doesn't mention any holidays.
I was behaving fairly well until I stopped in here. Now I want one of each. Now. The question is which ice cream is most appropriate with each or either?
