Anyone have a trustworthy source of Polish sausage online? I'm particularly interested in finding the sausage known as Kabanosy. Bought some thru Amazon once and it was horrible, Gristle City

I was curious about your post. My uncle's family ran a Polish deli in Blue Island, Illinois for generations and I thought perhaps Chicago would be a good place to look.

I remember their Christmas care packages to us as pure heaven. As a kid I could make those pickles last all winder. A precious bite here, a precious bite there.

And they did send kabanosy which we all loved.

Not much in my search came up for me. But it mentioned Andy's Deli which has been in business for over a hundred years. It would be my guess that these are the long-lived kinds of places you want to search for.

here is a great shop that makes a lot of polish sausages. I know they ship out of state, but not sure how it works. I live in walking distance.

Gene's Sausage Shop & Delicatessen - Fine European Gourmet Foods

Try goldbelly dot com. All kinds of foods available at that site. Shipped on ice in 1 day usually.

Definitely! Used to be a store not far for me that brought all their meats in from Chicago or NYC, AKA: The Real Deal!

Just nice to get personal recommendations, what I bought thru Amazon years ago was just meh.

Hopefully I can find a good mail order source, but that doesn't make the car smell good like bringing it home from the butcher does.

I breezed thru there around Christmas, is it only me or does anyone else think they're kinda pricey? I'd prefer dealing direct with the maker if possible but Thanks!

What sea do you live by?

There's a Polish deli I hope to visit soon in Rahway, NJ. About half an hour from the upper Jersey shore area.

I never ate pierogis until seven or eight years ago, and THEN I had homemade ones about two years ago and OMG, so much better. (OK Ukrainians made them for me, but some of them are married to Polish spouses, and the food's about the same.) So I looked for a place that made them for when I am not near people who make them at home.

Anyway, the shop looks like it carries sausages.

If you're ever in the vicinity of Wallington NJ I'd highly recommend Adam's Meat market, I only wish they shipped.

That's soul food to me I'm 2nd generation Ukrainian-American, I believe most slavic cuisines have pierogis although they may go by different names. My Grams and Mom called them (phonetically) something like petter-hee, Russians call them Varenyky. Amazing how something so simple made from basic ingredients can be so good. I'd chose good homemade ones over many, many other foods.

If they ship, details please.

And if they have a sausage called Kabanosy, it's delicious
