I rinse all of my apples under warm water, as I think it removes the wax better than cold water.
Cosmic Crisp, oh man, what an amazing tasting apple. I've been hooked on them since I bought my first one a month ago, I could easily eat two of them a day, but I keep it to one a day.
I cannot believe nobody posted a simple answer: wash and peel the apples before eating.
I know, I know, I'll invite the wrath of the food police who'll talk about nutrition. . . fiber . . . forget it. Unless you want to ingest that "food-grade wax" and pesticide residue, just peel them! Apples are easy to peel, unlike, some other fruits, after all.
From what I have read, the apples themselves are never sprayed with pesticides. The trees are sprayed before there Is fruit.
If this is wrong, I will happily stand corrected by anyone who might actually know more about the industry.

Years ago, I read that pesticide collects in the stem area if the apple. WhenI rinse, I make sure to rinse that stem depression. But like you, I have no firsthand knowledge about this.
