Usually black. Always strong. When I make it at home, it's usually either in an ibrik (Arabic style) or a stovetop "espresso" maker ("moka pot").

It depends on the coffee. If it's a regular grocery store type of coffee, then a touch of cinnamon is usually added while it's being brewed and then doused with a lot of milk before drinking. If it's a good coffee, (try 'KharmaSue' coffee if you can get it https://www.karmasucoffee.com/) then we drink it black or possibly with a hint of milk or cream.

Better than Kona is Hamakua coffee, but it's even harder to get than Su's coffee.

I came to the conclusion long ago that I don't like coffee. I can't drink it without milk or cream modifying it's undesireable traits, so I must not like it.

I do like coffee with added milk or cream.

I mean, I don't add anything to my beer. I like it as is. I don't have to add ice to my soda. I like it as is. The fact I HAVE TO add milk to coffee to make it drinkable means I don't actually like it. I just like having a hot beverage that is not too watery. The dissolved coffee and caffeince sufficiently thickends the drink and the milk thickens it even more.

If I actually liked coffee, I would be able to drink it black. I can't.

The caffeine kick is a mixed blessing.

I like the resulting alertness but I don't like it when I slip into mild caffeine addiction to where I need it. I often take breaks and go off coffee cold turkey to insure I don't get to that point of mild caffeine addiction.

People with strong caffeine addiction REALLY need it or they feel lethargic with brain fog, cranky, and ornery. I never want to get to that point. That happened to me only once and I hated it.

I had to finally come to the same conclusion with (hot) tea -- of any kind. I love the IDEA of hot tea, the ROMANCE of hot tea, the TRADITION of hot tea. But I hate the taste! Ugh; it makes my mouth pucker...

I also don't want to drink enough coffee to become caffeine addicted, however, so I'm forever in search of a satisfactory warm, soothing beverage. Sometimes hot cider (too sweet), Ovaltine (too caloric), broth (too substantial). So still looking...

Most of my life I drank it with cream. But, the last 10 years I trained myself to drink it black. I cannot vote because I could go either way (black, half and half, heavy cream). I also used to use Coffee Mate many many moons ago. It was kind of like whatever was served at work was what I drank for the most part. Then I started working places where there was no free coffee (enter Starbucks).
