How many countertop appliances for food and drink do you have? How many do you use more than twice a year.
Our most used include the microwave and coffee pot. Behind that is the toaster oven and toaster. Also have an electric kettle for occasional herbal teas. Only other appliance we use more than twice a year is the rice cooker. Can’t get my wife to give up the other appliances. She uses them less than once a year or are just collecting dust for the past 5 or more years. Blender, food processor, large rice cooker, and Instant Pot she used twice since buying it.
Actually ON the countertop? Two. Breville countertop oven and the Keurig. Both get used multiple times every day
Hidden away in cabinets and closets? An embarrassing number of appliances and kitchen tools that have electric plugs. Two get used at least twice a month - the sous vide and the mini rice cooker. The 3 quart OR the 6 quart instant pots get used AT LEAST once a week. I can't even remember the last time I used the other miscellaneous appliances. . .
Coffemaker, toaster, microwave. Have a small crockpot in the drawer. Oh, also a small blender for shakes that stays in a cabinet. I don't like too much clutter on the countertops. Never was a gadget hound. Food processor? Never had one, don't see the need. Daughter gave me a rice cooker once because she ended up with two. Sat in the drawer for years, never used. On the rare occasion I make rice, I cook it in a pot on the stove. That went to the charity thrift store.
Somebody I know who is a sucker for anything on QVC tried to unload a "smoothie maker" on me once. Lol.
I have an air fryer where I am staying, and someday if I get to return home, I may make room for one. Very handy, use it all the time.
Never heard of a "sous vide"...except on City-Data recently. Will have to Google.
Did. Um...don't think so. Looks like a dust-gatherer.
Way too many to list. Maybe it'll give you an idea when I say I have four tool chests, in addition to shop tools.
Most regularly used:
water distiller
coffee maker
toaster
can opener (two types)
soda stream
food processor
sous vide stick
immersion blender
deep fat fryer
air fryer
the second countertop microwave
Stuff discarded over the years as a bad fit for me:
salad spinner
crock pot
various poorly designed can openers
juicer
ceramic coated pots
countertop dishwasher
potato ricer
Only the Keurig and toaster live on the countertop as they're each used several times a week.
The other countertop appliances of the plug-in variety that I have include a blender, an electric griddle, a Cuisinart, a Crock Pot, a hot air popcorn popper, a waffle iron, a pizzelle iron, and a Kitchen Aid mixer. The microwave lives in a freestanding pantry, so it doesn't take up counterspace while still being in a convenient location to be used as needed. No interest in an Instapot as I still prefer to use my old-school Mirror stove top pressure cooker (it's used fairly regularly).
All save the pizzelle iron, the electric griddle, and the Kitchen Aid are used fairly regularly. Not a fan of keeping things around that go unused for the most part--especially in the kitchen.
Regularly used: Keurig coffee maker, air fryer, mini Ninja blender
Infrequently used: crock post, Instant Pot
