You don't want to eat out too often, thus, you would have to cook.

Now, winter time, heat is on, keep windows open while cooking and/or after cooking would result in too much electricity consumption -- hate waste.

Turn heat off for a few hours and then turn it back on, not sure if it would consume similar amount of electricity as always leaving heat on. So, this does not seems a viable option.

Preparing cold meal like sandwich, fine for lunch but not good eating cold food all day long.

Warm food without flavor? Man, what sort of food is that? Unimaginable. Feeding pigs? LoL

So, here you see, cooking delicious food with flavor during this time of the year poses the challenge of leaving the home/house smell like a restaurant, and no, I don't want that.

Thus, the IMPOSSIBLE problem!

solution?

Honestly, it sound like "I really don't want to cook" so let's come up with a lot of BS reasons not to so I can feel good about myself.

It is YOUR money so do as you want to.

why do you have to open window when you cook?
Unless you are doing a casserole, cooking for one does not use much fuel?
and you can always heat up your leftover in a microwave.

If the problem truly IS impossible, there is no solution for it. If you don't have one now, install a stove vent fan that actually exhausts to the outdoors. Cooking and the smells associated with that process is part of ordinary home life. Unless you're an octogenarian, you're going to be doing it for a very long time. Better get used to it.

We cook daily. Our house doesn't smell like a restaurant, even in winter. Generally if there are odors from some garlicky food or the toast my husband burnt a few days ago, it doesn't last more than an hour or so. Heating systems use fans. The air moves around. Even the most insulated houses have air coming in/out from outdoors.

Wow you wasted so much space in that first post *with your spacing and my scrolling...
makes me wonder if you know what waste is.
Eating good sandwiches everyday forever is a freaking blessing! Please, get a perspective.
No offense meant... just wanna wake you up.

Frugal Living is the place for this.

You are out of step with most people. Why?
I cook everyday without opening the window.
I have the heat on, but in GA or the Carolina’s the heat is not putting out during the day.
Don’t you have a fan over your stove? This takes care of cooking odors.
You have the option of microwave meals, as backup.

Why are you opening the windows when you cook? That’s the problem you need to solve. If it has to do with cooking odors, just put a bowl of white vinegar on the counter - no more smells.
