The few I've had are not hot at all.
I'd say they are sweeter than they are hot. And even so, they're not super sweet.
So I find them mild overall.

I wouldn't necessarily expect even a medium heat unless the label said "medium" or "hot" or "spicy." or something like that.

To add to the above response, I agree most brands are "pretty mild". I am familiar with Trader Joes, we use it to dip egg rolls and some other things. It's a good place to start. other than that, you could go to any American Grocer (Kroger, Food Lion, WalMart, etc.) and see what they have on their international aisle. I don't know what brands you'd run into, but something like Lee Kum Kee or Kikomans is a pretty safe bet for "not spicy".

Bagel seasoning
I don't have any idea what took me so long to discover this.
I use them on salads, low carb toast, eggs, any type of vegetable.

Also started using chicory in my coffee that I found served in the southern US.

Honey.

Adding it to those things that need a little ”sweet” to balance the acidic like chili, stews, adding it to some dips, vinaigrettes, mayos, home made BBQ sauce, and of course, tea.

Love honey, and I am discovering different varieties for different flavors, and it doesn't get wasted because it lasts practically forever.

Another item I've learned to like more and more is dill weed.

Ground pork -- in spaghetti sauce, tacos, etc.

Less expensive than ground beef, better quality, just as tasty.

........
If I am making Thai chili sauce at home, my recipe uses red bell peppers. So, no, not hot.

I buy Mae Ploy brand and Thai Kitchens does a good Thai chili sauce.
