Yes it is everyones favorite... Nutrasweet aka Aspartame
Yes brought to you by your former Sec of Defense ...Donald Rumsfeld.... seems he has a habit of propagating erroneous information. but Seaarle's stock went up and he saved them from BK so I guess all is well.
The answer is plain and simple--NO! The FDA would not nor will not ban any product that pays their wages, period! It's all about money folks. And I am not talking about alcohol---I'm talking about a great majority of additives and medications that have been proven to cause mental/physical health problems but because of the money and politics involved these products will stay on the market. Very, very sad. If you question this do some research on this subject---it's all there! Some of it is of course false but a lot of it is proven and very true!!

i think you are talking about aspartame, (edit, i see the "brain cancer" pic ) and it is an interesting story on how it finally got approved by the fda. they weren't going to approve it when it first came around in the 70's.
If this product was Milk , Lettuce, meat, fish wouldnt they be pulled off the shelves?
I would like to say "Yes" but I question every aspect of our good old FDA so I can't! Although I do think they would be more likely to with something like you mentioned here---so obvious and not such an easy cover-up.

Yes, only to have it illegally traded, make organized crime a hot business and many people killed, starting a sport like NASCAR before the governemnt realized they made a stupid mistake.
