I'm a coffee snob. I love fresh ground coffee but hate getting up in the morning to make it. I tried one of the Cuisinart grind-n-brews, but it didn't grind the beans fine enough and it was really hard to clean. A piece broke off and I took the opportunity to buy a new machine. I did a lot of research and came up with a brand called Capresso. Apparently, a former president of Krups founded the company.
I LOVE this coffee pot. It's easy, it makes a wicked good cup of coffee and it's easy to clean.
CAPRESSO
It has a timer and a hopper where the beans are stored. When the timer goes off, it grinds the amount of beans the quanity of cups you've selected and then brews the coffee. It also has a filter in the bottom of the water compartment.
Yes, the price tag is a bit steep, but I've had this pot for 2 years and I would gladly buy another one if it broke.
If I could not have this machine...I would have a Braun. It makes a great cup of coffee too.

Okay, just a bit off topic, but what really drives me nuts is people who make a big pot of coffee in the morning and then offer it to you late in the day.
I don't care how you make it, if it's not fresh, forgetaboutit!

since my kid works for starbucks... i have their grinder and "Barista" 12cup Coffee Marker with Thermal Pot
I also use Distilled water.
I still clean the machine with a cleaner about every 3 months to get the 'ick' out of there... but i do not get calcium/lime build-up.

I love my Farberware stainless steel perc. Clean it about once a month or so with vinegar and youre good to go. Makes the best coffee, in my opinion. But not too many people use that type, they prefer the ones with the glass carafe.
And its yukkie if its been sitting all day, yikes! Nothing wrong with making a fresh pot when company comes over.
