Depends on how it's cooked. If it's boiled or steamed until it's gross and floppy, YUCK. If it's grilled or correctly steamed, NOM.
I don't know, maybe the way it's been cooked has been the problem for me. When I was a kid, all I ever knew was the stuff being boiled or sauteed - and I just couldn't deal with the smell or taste. Of course, I used to hate spinach when I was a kid, and now I love the stuff. So who knows. It's just one of those things that has always been stuck in my mind as something I can't stand, so I've never been inclined to try it again as an adult.

Rinse it.
Snap off the ends.
Cover your toaster oven baking sheet with foil.
Turn the toaster oven on broil.
Lay the asparagus on the foil-covered baking sheet.
Spray a bit of olive oil on the asparagus.
Pop the sheet into the toaster oven and let it broil until it starts turning brown and it smells nutty.
took a while to come up with another one but I would have to say blood sausage
I'm not a sausage fan generally, but particularly not blood sausage. Just before Christmas, at a German-style all sausage dinner, I kind of scooted my blood sausage around my wooden cutting board-style plate and then finally slid it on over to hubby's plate. The dogs are not fans either. What does that tell you?

Seriously good eats!
I assume you are recommending fresh asparagus from the produce section, and not the canned stuff? I guess I'll have to give it a try now as an adult. It's just that when I was a kid, and I smelled the stuff, it reminded me of (excuse the way this sounds) dog poop. Not that I've ever eaten dog poop - but that's the way it smelled when I was trying to eat it, and the smell combined with the taste made me cry and say "Noooooooo, Mom.....I don't wanna eat it."

HAHAHAHA!!! Funny, I have a dog and if anyone would notice the smell of dog poop, it's me.
I didn't even know it came in a can! But, you're right -- I meant fresh asparagus. I think that there's a chance that if you try broiling it, you'll get a nutty smell (not a poopy smell ) and that you'll like it. Honestly, whenever I serve asparagus as a side dish, I don't even want the main course. And, also, I was never a fan of asparagus until recently, when I started making it this way.
i live in an area that in the spring I can gather fresh morel mushrooms-- I get fresh asparagus out of my garden and fry the morels and asparagus in a little olive oil and sprinkle fresh parmasian on top-- it is so good it is almost better than sex-- but it has been a long time

That sounds so good. We have neighbours who pick chanterelles by the 10 gallon pail full and have passed some along to us. They are so good fresh, and then I dry them and use them the rest of the year. No morels though. I am not sure why.
