Last I checked (quite a few years ago), they weren't even franchised.
Since there are none out here, I buy frozen 6 packs from the supermarket. Not exactly the same and they don't have the pickle on them, but similar enough to get a belly-bomber "fix".
Because absence makes the heart grow fonder. I remember a couple of years ago when the infamous "In-N-out burger" came to Phoenix from Southern CA. It was an absolute madhouse! There were lines out the door for hours! The drive thru had no less than 60 cars in it all all time for weeks! Still, several years later, the place is still mobbed all the time. Why cant we do that for a White castle?
White Castle isn't a franchise, and has no plans on changing. I love them very much, but have to make do with the frozen ones. I grew up on them in Columbus, OH. My personal best is 9 in one sitting. I think I was 12 years old at the time.
I love them because the burgers have 5 holes. They don't get 'flipped' on the grill.
I love that they are 'steam grilled' on a bed of onion bits, and are placed in little boxes so they don't get crushed.
I love that the bun gets all soggy. Kind of an American version of dim sum.
They're just awesome. And White Castle is open 24 hours, and pays it's employees well, and offers benefits and insurance. I don't drink it, but I hear the coffee is really good too.
I've had Krystal, and they are very close, but if I had to choose, it would be W.C.
West of the Mississippi? dont they know how much business they would have?
We have one a few miles away. They have the best breakfast sandwich.
