I have two professional popcorn poppers. They are 6 & 8 ounce in size. The Theater Pop 6 stays in the tv room next to the hotdog rotisserie, and the Jetspray drink machine. We use Mighty Pop oil, and Mighty Pop butter flavored salt from Sam's Club. We just emptied the 50 pound bag of popcorn 2 weeks ago. We are busy with a fair right now, and haven't had time to get another one. The whole family has said how much they miss the popcorn right now.
On weekends, the kids have their friends over for movie night. We order a few pizzas or make hot wings, and fire up all of the machines. The whole neighborhood enjoys watching movies on the big screen, and getting the real theater experience without actually going to the movies.
My family likes a tad bit of bacon grease in the oil I pop the corn in. Sometimes we sprinkle parmesan cheese on it if I don't use the bacon grease. I use the big wok on my burner too.
The ONLY way we make it here in this house is on the stove...in coconut oil. Medium chain fatty acids are VERY good for you, and extra virgin coconut oil gives the popcorn just a hint--barely--of coconut.
Then we sprinkle Mr. Kernel's butter flavor stuff all over it. I'm sure that probably kills the whole health factor LOL!
I have an old, heavy aluminum skillet that my mom got for a wedding gift. It makes great popcorn. I use plain ol' corn oil, and season with plain salt, or garlic salt. Or parmesan cheese.
An old shipmate I served with in Italy showed me this popcorn maker. It's kind of a throwback to making it on the stove. There's a blade that spins on the bottom of the pot, and when you put the lit on, there's a little crank at the end of the handle. Turn the crank and you turn the blades at the bottom of the pot. Keeps the popcorn from burning.. then put on the melted butter and have at it!!
They had this oddly shaped pot that was smaller on the bottom for about a inch.
You flip it over: how to make popcorn directions were stamped in the other side.
It didnt have the top (lid) though at all.
I should of taken that thing. It was so cool looking. They didnt even use it.
I just tossed my wave and I am right now off to search for a popcorn pot.
Popcorn is such a great low cal/cheap and great snack. You can flavor it salad dressing packets. NOT the whole pkg of dressing(Its very salty) but hidden valleyranch is my favorite post butter shakin flavor.
Jiffy Pop Jiffy Pop the magic treat As much fun to make as it is to eat
Hahaha, Jiffy Pop. Jiffy Pop isn't great popcorn, but it gets a pass because it's so much fun. Especially over a campfire.
