If I had to choose it would be mayo over miracle whip anyday. Not a big mayo fan either, though.

I have the same issue with real whipped cream vs cool whip - ick to the whip!

I used to hate mayo in all forms. Then I went to Amsterdam and had the really creamy, delicious stuff that actually has flavor. Omigosh so good. I still love that kind on my fries.

For me, mayo has to be really creamy and homogenous. Not that Hellman's globby stuff. I'll use Duke, Kewpie japanese mayo, or the imported stuff you can only seem to get at Ikea.

But it needs flavor. Like lemon, or garlic, or pepper, or chipotle...maybe even horseradish or pesto. Not plain..I think it's much too bland.

I manage to survive without either one of them in the house.

How do you make a proper sandwich?

To my taste, a proper sandwich doesn't include mayo. I had a jar of Best Foods on hand just in case I might need some mayo for whatever reason... I tossed it, unopened, last year. It was 4 years beyond the pull date.

I can't stand butter either. I eat toast, rolls, biscuits, pancakes and waffles without butter. A half pound of butter lasts a long time around this joint.

Lacey, you know I love you, but there's something wrong about seeing the words "mayo" and "jewish seeded rye bread" in the same sentence!

Have no use for MW. Do not use much mayo except when making something like chicken salad for sandwiches. Will mix in to the mayo some spicy mustard and garlic powder.
