I went a little crazy ... Halloween only comes once a year, so why not?

I had Twizzlers (pull n peel, rainbow, regular), Wonka mix (Gobstoppers, Runts, Butterfinger squares, Baby Ruth squares), Kiddie Mix (tootsie rolls/pops and fruit-flavored midgies, and Dots) assorted SweeTart minis - chewy, regular and the rolled-up ones that look like Smarties.

Then I have a bowl of stuff for the teeny-tiny kids who can't eat candy - I love that they sell mini packages of stuff for the wee ones. They could choose from Goldfish crackers, yogurt-covered raisins, Mickey and Minnie Utz cheez balls, and Chex Muddy Buddies.

I was loading kids up -- only got about half the crowd I expected. :-/

We gave out Snickers, M and M's, Jolly Ranchers, Milk Duds, Twizzlers, Reeces, and Tootsie Pops. Also stickers with black cats and pumpkins for any kids who for some reason, can't eat that stuff.

We had Snickers, Milky Ways, Kit-Kats, white chocolate Kit-Kats, peanut butter cups, something else from Reeses that has peanut butter and nougat in it, plain M&Ms, peanut M&Ms, Reeses Pieces, and caramel Twix.

Unfortunately, we have a ton left over, and there's not much of it that I want.

Nothing...I've lived in this house for 16 years and I've not had one trick or treater! So I end up eating 2 or 3 bags of candy by myself...this year I refused to buy any, but the hubby brought home the Hershey bars and we ate them all, lol.

Too bad, we loved the kids coming by when we lived in the city...they were so adorable!

A bag of miniature Mounds and a bag of Reeses

No one stopped.

I took 4 out of each bag and gave the rest to the Hospice nurse who stopped by this morning .

My will power is too weak to have 2 bags of miniature candy bars in the house.

Heh. It's always a question of what to do. We live on a through street with no sidewalks, but there are some kids. So at least when we're going to be home (some years we haven't been) we do buy candy. Our max count of trick or treaters is around 12-15 I think one year. This year, it was raining, but we did still get 2. Yeah, 2 kids, at one time, that's it. We don't actually know any of the families with kids that well except for perhaps the 2-year-old next door, and we didn't see them (probably no go in the rain). So that probably plays into it. The weather was warm and if it had just not rained we probably would have had several more, but there are nearby easier places with sidewalks so, maybe not.

I always get a mix of chocolate-based stuff because that was the stuff I wanted most when I was little.

I got a bag that had Snickers, Milky Way and Twix, then another that had Kit Kat and Reese's PB cups.

Two or three years now we've said we should just get a handful of full size bars, but I forgot about that idea, plus I guess I like the variety this way too. Plus we might get one someone's radar with full size bars and then run out. We have them take 4 or 5 of the little ones.

I love the beer for the dads idea! I'd totally do that in a place where we got more visits.

I had little vacuum sealed bags of fresh garlic cloves to hand out.

Sorry, family joke. I live way out in the country and I've never had a tricker-or-treater come to the door. So, I'd bought a half gallon of peeled garlic cloves and was vacuum packing them into 8 glove packages when I decided they were just the right size to hand out to the trick-or-treaters.

We were doing caramel apples one year and we had left over caramel and nuts. So I peeled an onion, and made it look like a caramel apple. I gave it to my oldest nephew. We asked everyone take their bite at the same time. You should have seen the look on his face!
