No need to get so defensive. My opinion is not based on "fancypants" restaurants. I have never seen so much fried food, including seafood in my life.
On the gulf coast we love our seafood, but I do agree the Shrimp Basket is a little greasy. I personally like the Original Oyster House on the causeway in Mobile.
If anyone ever visits Quebec city I would heartily recommend "Le Saint Amour" restaurant for fabulous food, great service, wonderful setting and decor ( ask for a table in the Winter Gardens) and a very Romantic place for an intimate special occasion dinner.
One of the few places I have been to where the waiters refused a tip despite our utmost protestations ! ( on two separate occasions !)
Not the best restaurants I have been to but definitely in the top 15.
Pretty expensive but really worth it IMO.
Rainbow Room in NYC, the view overlooking Manhattan was breathtaking...but this was 8 years ago and I have heard that it has declined since then.
The Columbia in Tampa is a wonderful 105 yr old restaurant in Tampa
Peterson's is delicious in Indianapolis, with innovative foods
and somewhere in Puerto Rico I had the best dinner and tres leche of my life, the walls and ceiling were all glass, and we watched the rain as it stormed outside. I can't remember the name, I'm sure myhusband would.
All the restaurants I went to when I lived in New Orleans! Best food ever! There are a couple though when I lived in VA Beach.....1 Fish, 2 Fish and Todd Juric's Bistro in Norfolk.
Arnaud's in NOLA, hands down the best oysters rockefeller ever! Beautiful setting, and superb service. You really have to search to get a bad meal in NOLA, from high-class restaurants to po-boy shacks..... now I want red beans and rice!

The concept is actually off-putting to me. Grill some stuff, and add some sauces? It just doesn't sound *that* exciting. And the restaurant is kinda loud.
Oooh I've been there... unfortunately had to send my meat back. I had ordered vinison and they asked me how I wanted it cooked... chef recommended rare. I said hmm ok. Well rare turned out to be cold and bleeding. I couldn't eat it like that. However, the rest of the food was great

Well, I'm not into anything fancy. In Pensacola, we have MacGuire's Irish Pub, with some of the best food I've had.
I grew up in the Pensacola area - lived in Milton & Navarre. I love McGuire's. I started going there in the late 80s. At some point in time the food changed a little bit, but not for the better unfortunately. Me and a friend would go and get the sampler plate and the 18 cent soup and enjoy the Irish entertainment.
Edited to add a comment about the later slam against fried seafood in the Panhandle... don't order the fried food then You can have it grilled or sauted!
