What is in your fridge that you wouldn't want guests, not family, to see? Fess up! We won't tell.

Actually I just cleaned out my fridge in preparation for Thanks Giving dinner and it's clean! (for once!) I know exactly what I have and where everything is. While I was cleaning I found an old jar of capers and two half bottles of the same BBQ sauce. They went to trash. Other than that it's pretty normal stuff.

We seem to lose leftovers in the nether reaches of the fridge on a distressingly regular basis, and wind up having to toss them when we rediscover them. We're not as bad as either of our Depression-era mothers were - my spouse used to say that his mom had the coldest garbage in town - but it still happens more often than I'd like.

That's actually part of the reason we want to buy a bottom-mount fridge. Both my spouse and I are somewhat tall, and when the freezer is on the bottom, the refrigerator part is high enough that we can actually see into it without either bending way over or else hauling over a kitchen chair so we can sit down and see into the back corners. Hopefully one of the side benefits will be that those leftovers won't get lost so frequently.

It's all good now but yesterday I opened up the produce bin and found a really old and forgotten cucumber (in a plastic bag thankfully) that had turned to a brown liquidy mush. Very gross.

I clean the fridge out once a week, the night before the trash men come. I think the most sinister thing I have in the fridge is bacon grease. LOL

Now that my fridge is nice and clean, I'd do the same. It'll be easier to keep up if I clean it once a week. I also have bacon grease, doesn't everybody?

No Spam in the fridge or pantry. No bacon grease. I have 4 jars of various pickles, though. LOL

I must admit I am extremely anal in this department. Like my cabinets, the food in my fridge and freezers are in alpha order. ie. Bud, Corona. Condiments and jars are on the fridge door all in alpha order. Produce & fruits in green bags in separate compartments. Fridge gets wiped down once a week, freezers once a month. Seriously, it only takes a few minutes weekly & really makes my life easier, with the cost of food, we do not throw anything out, so I always know what is in there.

The most mysterious thing in my fridge is a microfilm sent in a package from Mr. J. Bond of London. Hmm, wonder what that could be about.
