We had shrimp cocktail. Both my sister-in-law and I brought some. Thought I had an original idea, but no...
They were yummy though!

So for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years you have two dinners also? One Italian, one Medigan?

Sounds delicious!

I made a small rack of lamb for an appetizer; curried sweet potatoes and a pickled beet salad.

Medigan........good one. You must be Italian
We always have escarole soup w/little meatballs to start (people now call it wedding soup?). Have to end the meal with roasted chestnuts (from Italy). It's all good

I "had"() to bring some smoked beef tenderloin and a "fattie" w/jalap cheese and shrooms. The fattie is a chunk of pork sausage rolled out flat(~1/4-1/2") then spread cheese and sliced shrooms and roll it up and wrap in bacon. Smoke to 160*+ and slice. Looks like a log and slice cross. Put on a bisquit(or not) add some spicy mustard and it is f'n good. Great for b-fast, sure it would be great w/sausage gravy, too.(on my "to do" list.)

I went to my parents for Thanksgiving... Their neighbors had a roasted chicken instead of turkey... I thought that was interesting.

The only think I have that some find odd is oyster stuffing (love it!). Also, I sometimes do a duck or chicken instead of turkey, which I'm not real big on

My mom made Cornish Hens for years when we were kids and told us they were miniature turkeys. Oddly enough, we are now grown and know better, but we still play along.
