If there were more people than just me eating it, that would be a viable solution; however, at my age, I'm not sure I could consume a whole batch of that stuff all by myself before it turned into a biology experiment. However, if I ever really get a hankering for it, I'll keep that suggestion in mind!

There wasn't a Thanksgiving that went by without my mother's lime jello with celery and shredded carrots. If she got fancy she threw in some walnuts.

Jello is the most inhumane and disgusting creation known in a kitchen - second only to Cool Whip.

My mother was addicted to both, in random combinations and for every occasion. Finally my Dad taught me how to cook and we threw Mom out of the kitchen. When I moved out she started in again, though. When she died I threw away at least 40 empty, carefully washed and-preserved-with-lids Cool Whip bowls. How can anyone force themselves to eat that stuff? Wouldn't you rather have a nice glass dessert dish of Bananas Foster with real whipped cream and a little blue flame of brandy? How about a real blueberry-cheese and sour cream- pineapple bundt cake with a toasted pecan-honey glaze?

A salad has spinach and lettuce and chopped eggs and real bacon bits and radishes topped by a raspberry vinagrette dressing. Maybe walnuts or slivered almonds... A salad is not congealed - ANYTHING, especially the glue made from animals' hooves (gelatin). <shudder>

OK, OK, a little TIC - but not much!

Hooves. Are. Not. Meat.
Neither is bone marrow or innards!

Jello rates right up there with my I'll avoid it at all costs foods. As a kid jello and junket were beyond disgusting additions to the table.

Mr. L would love if I made it but it doesn't cross my threshold.

My DH enjoys jello dishes once in awhile. My grandma made the celery and carrot in the lime jello dish a lot and I always ate it. Infact I am planning to make it soon for DH. Jello is only a rare dish in our home and as long as we keep it that way I think we can continue to enjoy it!

I'll eat some plain jello occasionally.

Nothing called "jello salad" will ever cross these lips though. Fuhgeddabboutit!

OK, OK, I confess, now turn off that stupid light that's in my eyes!

I like jello and cool whip, on occasion.

My sister makes the strawberry jello w/the pretzels. Yum.

I got this recipe from my first MIL who makes it for T'giving and Christmas dinners:

Wedding ring salad

lemon jello, mix w/boiling water.
add cold ginger ale, put in fridge till semi-set
whisk it up or use hand mixer to beat in some "bubbles"

While it's setting, drain a can of sliced peaches.
arrange peaches, overlapping, in a circle in bottom of mold.
At even intervals, place marashino cherries.

Cut up remaining peaches into chunks, add chopped walnuts and peaches
to jello mixture. Pour into mold on top of peaches and cherries.
Refrigerate till set.

If anyone wants the exact recipe, DM me.

It's very pretty when you unmold it.
