Support you local independent sub shop, the subs are usually better.
Down here we have Jersey Mike's, I'll bet they never been to Jersey.
We don't all live up north, we don't all have "authentic" sub and pizza places....
In Texas, those places virtually don't exist, so it's all Subway and Quizno's (and I've seen a hell of alot more Subways than Q's). Now Tex-Mex and BBQ, that's our thing. But when it comes to sub sandwich places, it's mainly Subway, here.

Sorry, we don't have many of those round where I live. There is a really good shop, but it's about 15 miles from my house. We have both Subway and Quizno's about 2-3 miles away. I'll eat at either, but I'm a vegetarian, so my choices are limited in both. I find myself most frequently at Subway.
In these categories, which is better?
- Service As long as it isn't horrible I don't notice much.
- Sandwich Content Quality Veggies always seem fresh, or they just don't serve them.
- Sandwich Variety Again, limited, so can't judge.
- Veggies Quizno's has guacamole, which I don't think Subway here does, elsewise I'd get it!
- Extras (restaurant appearance, logo, commercials, etc....) Don't pay the least bit of attention to those things. Most marketing is lost on me.

I'm a big fan of Scholtzsky's, but after the bankruptcy they are hard to find these days. I think they cut their number of stores in half.
Jimmy John's originated in Charleston Illinois. It is now an international chain with several hundred stores, including several in Arizona.
Jimmy John's has been very annoying lately with all their commercials, constantly fixating on pitching the "Nine Grain Wheat Sub, wheat yea, freak yea" nonsense. Get with the present Jimmy, people are consuming way less wheat because they know better.
It's kind of like how Olive Garden always doubles down on the "unlimited bread sticks" and super carbohydrate dense entrees. Demand was so strong, that they went with a "buy one, take one" promotion. Haha!
