I don't subscribe to any either I check them out at our library for free. Or I know a couple that has over 70 magazines going into their mailbox monthly so I go there to borrow as well. Cook's Illustrated was my first exposure to that magazine through them MWBW I agree it is a very nice magazine.
Once I am done reading they go back to where they came from I don't want them laying around cluttering up my house.
I just subscribed to Food Network Magazine. I bought one from the grocery store and I thought it was good. I also have a mad crush on Bobby Flay for some reason.
I don't even LIKE Bobby Flay, but this a great magazine. I subscribed also.
Loved Gourmet until their format changed and Southern Living's nothing but ads these days.
I am on a somewhat less "haute cuisine" level! LOL I love "Taste of Home" and all of the Reiman publications! No advertising, just home cookin from around the US! Wonderful magazine!
Although, they have changed in the last few years. Well, Gourmet has fer sure. I buy the mag in the store and I get it home and I'm thinking.......they are really reaching.
Now that I think about, a lot of mags are doing the same thing. Its like they ran out of recipes. And here is Great Aunt Melda's Peanut butter on Fly's.
I have a recipe from Saveur that has snails with a roasted garlic sauce and parsley sauce that I make for the holidays. Its pretty darn good. I cook more from Gourmet.
I did make the mistake of buying Saveur's Italian cookbook or Italian American cookbook, that was a waste. I got rid of that.
Paula Deen's magazine. I can't afford the subscription but I get a copy for Mom's Day or my b-day and I love that. Her chocolate issue was fantastic. I'm still making my way through, trying the different recipes.
i subscribed to saveur and cooks illustrated and taste of home, but dropped them when i found the recipes looked and sounded good...but i was not actually making any of them. i still enjoy the magazines, but only when i steal away for the afternoon and head for the bookstore.
i pull out good old betty crocker when i need a recipe for something. (or one of my 25 or so bread books)
