Sometimes I use ham instead, and add some honey and spicy mustard along with the cheese.
Ham, swiss, and either honey mustard or spicy mustard is really good grilled on cinnamon raisin bread!

Default Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Do you add anything to a GCS? A friend of mine puts sliced sweet pickles on the sandwiches. It sounded gross, but it really is good

I love sliced red tomato on mine. Bacon is ok too but usually either plain or with tomato is my preference

I need to have them accompanied by some dill pickle, chips or spears. Don't know why, I just love it that way. When getting a grilled cheese at work I used to get a couple of dill chips from the salad bar. Sometimes the cashier would want to weigh and charge me for them I had a GCS with Bac-O's bacon bits last night

Bacon makes all things better. Can't think of anything else for grilled cheese. Tomatoes are great but would screw up a Grilled cheese IMO!!

Bacon and tomato on rye and my grands love them if you mayo the bread rather than butter.

Ah leave it to Lacey to introduce bread choices LOL. My favorite grilled cheese is american with tomato (it's good!) on white. On rye, I prefer a small amount of mild swiss - with or without bacon &/or tomato.
