Box labels suggest cereal can lower cholesterol and treat heart disease
WASHINGTON - Federal regulators are scolding the maker of Cheerios, saying it made inappropriate claims about the popular cereal's ability to lower cholesterol and treat heart disease.
Ha! Regulators say that only FDA-approved drugs are allowed to make such claims----sure, that is how they make their sales! A natural way to help our bodies---that will never get approval from our good old FDA!!!!! Sad.....
The health claims on food packaging are just another form of advertising. They are not to be taken literally, or believed as absolute truth. The amount of wiggle room the regulatory agencies give these manufacturers is excessive IMHO, and they overstate the facts more often than not.
