Like 1 gallon glass jars, for pickling eggs or making limoncello, which store (besides online) do you buy them from?

Thanks!

The local feed store will sometimes have them. Grocery stores sometimes do. Walmart carries them frequently. In all cases, it's a seasonable thing.

I've seen them at Target, but they weren't exactly what I had in mind, although I don't remember why. I was thinking maybe Kitchen Outfitters or something like that. I couldn't find any at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I was just wondering if anyone had a tried-and-true store they liked.

I found lots of sites online, but I'm thinking the shipping would be high (I forgot to mention I also need individual-sized bottles for the limoncello).

Thanks for responding, Texas!

Wal-Mart and Food Lion. Canning supplies tend to be in the "lower end" stores, because sad to say, most yuppies don't have the time or talent. Roses, if you have them in the area, has a great selection of canning supplies.

Ace Hardwares tend to carry them, too.

Do you have any Amish stores near you? Feed stores, farm stores and old time hardware stores still carry them.

I gallon jars for pickling eggs you could use sun tea jars those are available everywhere I believe.

1 gallon jars would be hard to find. Mason jars are like a pint size. I imagine the biggest trouble with that size is finding LIDS that you can seal on...you can get the jars anywhere, just buy things like pickled eggs and cucumbers (pickles) in bulk, but the sealing thereof? Ow.

I have half gallon & gallon canning jars they use the same lids as the pints & quarts. Now if you recycle jars from store bought items no clue as to what size they would use. If you are using a refridgerator pickling process you wouldn't have to have the actual canning size lids.

What about garage sales? You can find nifty old stuff when someone's cleaning out grandma's house.

Drive to any grocery store in a more rural area. They will have the jars and all the other supplies you need at a reasonable price.
