Elston, when you cook your rice, do you just do the reg white rice/boil 20 minutes type thing? Or do you have a great rice secret? <hint hint hint> ( I am talking about the "everyday" type of rice thing - goes with anything)

Be still my heart! If you ever get the chance, do try Jaxson's spanish sauce - which is a hotdog chili type thing. It really is very good!

Dinner tonight was leftover cube steak and gravy, et al...AGAIN! lol did buy a turkey breast today that is defrosting in the fridge. Probably just bake it in the oven like always - but any other ideas are welcomed!

Tonight was chicken fettucine Alfredo and some cheese toast. And last night, I made some homemade big beef burgers last night. Did very well, too.

Kats, I dont have any secret....we make rice everyday so we have a good rice cooker.....I use good quality sushi grade short or medium grain rice....I wash it well and put it in the cooker (3 cups to 3 1/4 cups of water more or less....I go by how it looks and measures on my finger knuckle. We have that more often than not with any cooked breakfast and always either for lunch or dinner.

I have noticed the teflon coating on the rice cooker is starting to give out.....so we may need to be getting a new one....we will get one imported from Japan.

Funny you should mention that - I recently was scolded for putting the rice in my rice cooker before the water - apparently the rice falling directly into the bowl scratches the teflon coating off. Who knew?
A rice cooker is a wonderful thing. I got one just a few years ago. So nice. I haven't made "regular" long grain rice in quite awhile. We eat the sushi rice (short grain) also.
