How long should one keep tea bags in zip locks before throwing them out. I used old tea bags (eposed to the air for months) and it made me sick. How old is too old for tea bags, even if in zip lock bags.

If you do not drink tea often enough to use a box of bags within a couple of weeks, buy the teabags that come in individual sealed airtight packets.

Tea loses its flavor quickly once exposed to the air. Even baggies don't go a very good job of stopping the flavor loss. Better to spend a cent or two per bag to get a nice cup of tea. There is a point at which being frugal becomes silly, and using old tea bags is one of them IMHO.

Using old teabags will not make you sick, the worst that would happen is that you would be drinking stale tasting tea. Look elsewhere for the source of your illness.
