I am not a huge fan of the Food Network anymore, but still look forward to the series every year. I don't have a favorite yet, but do have a few I wish would just keep quiet and go away. I am anxious to see what African food will be and see how the gal that is 1/2 African American and 1/2 French handles the mixtures of food. Some contestants sure did look like they were enjoying using shrimp.
I watched it but no one really stood out for me. The one young man was very annoying so he will probably win because no one wants to deal with the tantrum that is sure to come.
Quite frankly, I am tired of Giada and Bobby. At least Giada does not seem to have the drama with her divorce that Bobby is having with his, but I just find him especially disgusting at this point.
The only successful individual to win that contest has been Guy Fieri. The rest have been major disappointments.
Oh I disagree with you: yes, he is by far the biggest success, but what about Melissa who had her own show for about 6 years and is now doing a blog on shopping for food. It is on the Food network website but not the net itself and she has written a couple of books. The same with Jeff, the Sandwich King. The gal doing the Indian cooking had her own program for a few years. I, personally couldn't stand her, but she did fairly well I guess.

I guess I must live in never never land, cause I didn't know about Bobby's divorces. I too would like to see both replaced, maybe next year.
As for the new future stars, the jerky guy will be gone in a couple of weeks I am guessing and yes, he will throw a fit. So far I like the happy, big guy from LA but he is a bit too much like last year's winner to be the star. I also am interested in seeing how the gal that is 1/2 African American and 1/2 Italian puts her food together. It is interesting if nothing else. There were a couple others that I am waiting to pass judgement on and a few I hope are gone in short order.

But look where Guy Fieri is now - and where are they?

I hear a lot of people say this about Bobby. I don't have a problem with him, and I did not know about his divorce, I always liked him okay, but I could never stand Giada. ever. I rank her down there with that Guy Fiero dude. I guess I do hold it against her that she comes from a billionaire family and all she had to do was snap her skinny little fingers and purge all her meals to get to a size zero and she has a "tv career" she looks like she would be insufferable to be around too. But that is just me.

I do agree, he is, by far, the most successful of all the "future stars" but my point is; he isn't the only one. Both Melissa and the sandwich Kings have done pretty well. As I said, she is still doing short videos on the blog and Jeff even did a review on the "future stars" last week. He is still going strong and who knows? He might end up another Guy or close. Only time will tell. BTW to be honest, I do not like Guy anymore. I did for a long time but he has been over exposed and is running pretty thin in my book. It is sorta like what they did with Rachael. For awhile we were not calling the network the "food network" we were calling it "here comes the Rachael network and here she is!!!!!
ok, did anyone watch it last night and if so, what did you think? I see more contestents I don't like than I do. I doubt we are going to see a real future star, but who knows? Last years star never even had a pilot I don't think.
Dirt Grinder, as for another Guy, who knows? There are not many that will ever achieve his fame. I do think Milessa and Jeff have done very well. I certainly would consider them top Food Network stars.

I do NOT have a television at the current time. However, I had the opportunity to watch the show last night and it was a lot worse than in past seasons.
Some of the people DO have talent and are interesting but it all appears to be an act.
Honestly, I see a lot better work on You Tube and that includes a lot of stuff from Asia.
