I love oysters on the half shell...we go to the coast often and eat our fill. I also buy fresh oysters from the local seafood houses and fix fried oyster po boys and also scalloped oysters.

My favorite (and really only way) I consume Oysters is in a shot glass, with pepper vodka, and a splash of cocktail sauce, horseradish, tabasco, lemon and pepper. YUM I will also do Oyster rockefellers sometimes.

My fiance loves oysters with a splash of ponzu sauce and green onion.

I made Oysters Rockeffeler once and it was not for me.
I'm sticking with raw oysters. Maine, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island... I'll take them all..

Everytime I go back to South Australia its always one of the first things I'll order with a Reisling or a Rose

Raw oysters are great, but cooked are very good too - it's not a great bowl of seafood gumbo (THE greatest soup in the world) if it doesn't have a couple of nice, plump oysters in it. Oyster po' boy sandwhiches. So yummy ...

Unlike most of you, I'm not a fan of raw oysters, but love cooked ones. Pan-fried, deep-fried, but especially in an oyster stew. Yum!

Anyone other oyster fans here?
I love oysters on the half shell. I used to live near a tavern restaurant with a surprisingly good oyster bar. Every Wednesday was 'buck-a-shuck'. One dollar for any oyster in stock and they always had at at least a dozen varieties. Most would order from the the daily menu but I had to to talk to the oyster guy. It wasn't a problem because the oyster bar was shucking and plating in view of the patrons. I would ask, "what did you get today, what do you like"? I discovered that I like small, briny. Just a spritz of lemon juice for me, thank you.

Awww man, just now realizing what the word "oyster" means in this thread.
Words can't even begin to describe what I think about this thread's 'oysters'!

^^ I don't get it.
I LOVE oysters! First thing I have when I get to Florida. Or NYC.
I've had them from both coasts, and I think I prefer those from the east coast. I like them Rockefeller'd too.

When I responded to this, I was referring to oysters that are plucked from the water, not oysters that are plucked from beneath the tail.

mrs cool - The original thread is about rocky mountain oysters. Two threads got merged--kinda funny .
