I can tolerate eating just about anything if only to be polite, but when given a choice, I generally don't like eating olives, raw onions, bell peppers, mussels, raw oysters, and beets (must have the gene that makes them taste like dirt).

Organ meat doesn't bother me. I like extra pate and head cheese on my banh mi. Go figure.

Shrimp should always be deep fried. It took over 30 years for someone to tell me that you weren't supposed to eat the tails.

Nice thread, TK! Here is an addendum to my earlier post of not eating shellfish...

I can't eat brazil nuts or peanut satay or I'll blow up like a balloon & have to go to the hospital. not a big deal since I've learned my lesson.

I balk at lamb cuz I just never seem to like it in an extreme way... if my future MIL served it... I'd "try it" & zip my mouth if I didn't like it but I'd be hard put to wait 3 hours to eat again...

If your original question had been "are there foods you don't eat together" that would be different for me, but we already know about that *l*

the tails are actually good for you! that's the kind of substance used for the therapeutic remedies for arthritis! if it's palatable for you: by all means go right ahead!

it isn't really that you aren't "supposed to" --- it's just not commonly expected. I don't think it's tacky. my ex husband always ate the tails, with relish that amazed me - caveman like glee ... of all the tacky things he's done, that was never on my list heeeheee.

Foods I will not eat:
1. Brussels Sprouts...they smell like dirty feet
2. Any kind of bean except green beans(and the green beans can only be fresh,French cut..canned green beans are a big negatory)
3. Feta Cheese...so indescribably foul that I can't even talk about it
4. Any organ meat except chicken livers(I love chicken livers)
5. Yoohoo......sorry Yoohoo lovers, but I don't get it
6. Anything extremely hot...spicy is good but hot isn't
7. Okra...just thinking about makes me want to weep
8. Beets...just gross and you're right breadlady, they always taste dirty
That's really it......I'm not that picky

Don't know that this is the best thread to mention this but...

when I'm in a relationship, my weight might go up as high as 150 pounds. But when I'm cooking for myself, I always lose weight. Just find that interesting.

I'm not a big fan of scrapple. There's not too much else I won't eat as my waist line can attest.

Announcement!

Yesterday I was shown a tin of smoked oysters. They looked remarkably like tiny cooked chicken livers (which I LOVE) so I did try one & then about 10. Excellent on crackers & esp. with some cheddar *pleased smiley!*

So, at least I can take one form of oysters off of my list!
