Personally I could care less if someone wants to be a vegetarian. I can't imagine not eating meat ever again, but I don't care if you don't want to. I just hate the typical response of vegetarians that they stopped eating meat because of the treatment of the animals. So you all wonder why people cop attitudes, because when you bring this up as your reasoning you are pulling a holier than thou attitude. People are generally put off when they feel they are being judged. So the road goes both ways.

For all those who would ask me what i eat when finding out i am a vegetarian, i would always tell them "Food." That shut them up better than any other response. lol
There ya go!!!
I am a meat eater, but I am sensible enough to embrace and fully accept other peoples eating choices.
Who am I to throw stones????
Whatever works for people, their taste and lifestyle is ok with me.
The ONE and ONLY pet peeve I have is...no matter what the person prefers and favors to eat, have TABLE MANNERS.....LOL.

I love Whole Foods. There are only two within reasonable distance (one 30 miles away, the other about 40 miles) but I make the trip at least once a week anyway.

I gave up eating meat earlier this year, and I've never felt better! I also eat mostly whole/nonprocessed foods, organic every chance I get (which is why I love Whole Foods selections). I am not a fan of Trader Joe's; too small (the ones here anyway) and definitely not 'health oriented' the way WF is.

I don't criticize others for their diet choices, and I expect the same respect from others in return.

I was at Whole Foods just this evening in Pasadena CA. They have a vey healthy salad bar,you put all you want in a small or large container, the cashier would weigh it. It usually costs me like 7 to 8 dollars,it's very healthy, better than eating at burger king or Mcdonalds which costs about the same.
I also buy their cereal, which I like to weigh them too.you don't have to spend a lot of money.Just buy smart

I've stopped eating meat because I don't like how the animals are treated.

I love Whole Foods. I love their salad bar, their bread, their olive bar, the deserts and on and on and on. Oh, and I love their Shrimp Bisque Soup !!!! I love all their soups. I love their cheeses !!! I wish I was rich because I could easily fill up my entire shopping cart, but alas, I am not rich and I can only buy a few things now and again. :-(

Agreed!
But, how would it be, if they are 100% humanely raised (and that be proven too!) ?
Meaning, they are "happy cattle" (roaming on huge pastures with shelters, eating high quality feed and just do what normal cattle do) all the way up to the day of slaughter??

My whole point is that Whole Foods isn't particularly healthy. Or rather, that just because it is sold at Whole Foods, that doesn't mean that it is healthy.

Those soups and many of the items on both their hot bar and cold bar are not healthy. Same goes for their deli. Their vegan baked goods are extraordiarily bad for you. And with much of the pre-package (still processed!) foods. If you have ever seen any of the recipes they use for this stuff, you could see how this stuff is no better for you than the stuff from other stores.

I just get sad and frustrated when I see people buying into this myth. I have literally had people tell me that they couldn't eat healthy because they couldn't afford to shop at WF. Advertising had convinced them that was the only "healthy" place to shop. Just simply not true. As is the fact that what WF's sells isn't always (or even often) healthy.

Thank your for further explaining your point.
I definitely can understand how WF could be *processing* foods, and not be the wholesome source of nutrition that it professes to be.
They do carry a lot of pre-made, packaged/shrink-wrapped stuff.
I used to love Wild Oats' bakery, and was so disappointed to see WF swallow them up.
I never really cared for WF's bakery, and did not buy much of anything from their deli--but when I lived in Colorado, I truly loved WF's seafood department.
Why is their vegan stuff not healthy?
Can you tell us anything more? Please DM or email if you don't want to say much more on the board.
