Wow, this post brought back some good memories! One of my school favorites was apple crisp. It probably wasn't much but as a kid of around 8-10, it was the best ever. Wish I could have some now.

Oh wow. Great topic.

I loved the fries or the mashed potoatoes eaten with a warm roll.

Looking back, it was gooood stuff - these days, not so much.

I LOVED apple crisp. I would trade with people for theirs. I also liked the pizza burgers -- hamburger buns with pizza sauce and yellow cheese (possibly american?).

Tater Tots and the days that they had pizza

I'm sure there were other things but those are the only two right now that come to mind.

I don't think I ever ate in the high school cafeteria. Ever.

The chicken strips. OMG, they would run out by last lunch because people would buy extras. So they quit offering extras for sale.

Those odd shaped pizzas. I don't think they even taste like pizza but they were good. A few places sale them out of their freezer sections now.

The school's salad bar was also really good. The same with potato bar.

High School we had “real” food which was decent as well as Taco Bell and Papa Ginos pizza available………….but as far as actual classic “school lunch” cuisine goes, I would say taco boats were my favorite……
